Private Music Lessons

Private Lesson Tuition Payment
and Cancellation/Makeup Policies

Tuition Payment - Weekly Lessons

  • The upcoming month's tuition is due at the last scheduled lesson of the current month, based on the number of lesson weeks in the upcoming month.  There are typically 4 lessons per month, but some months may have 3 or 5 lesson weeks.

  • Lesson timeslots are not guaranteed unless payment is made on time.

  • Automatic monthly credit/debit card billing is available, and is recommended for all students to insure continuation of your timeslot from month to month.

  • You may stop your lessons at the end of any calendar month.

You may also stop your lessons mid-month.  Any remaining lessons more than 7 days from your de-enrollment date may be refunded.

  • Tuition is not charged for days that MTC is closed:  Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week, and all days from December 24th through January 1st.

  • MTC may substitute a member of our teaching staff for a teacher who is on vacation.  Substitutions are normally limited to 4 lessons per year.  Substitute lessons are billed the same as regular lessons.  If you prefer to not have a substitute teacher, you may request a makeup credit (not a monetary credit) for that lesson.

Cancellation/Makeup Policy

  • For lessons cancelled by Music Training Center (due to snow, instructor illness, etc.), tuition is refunded in full the student.

  • Lessons are a educational commitment, and should be prioritized above other commitments that may arise.

When a student cancels a lesson, Music Training Center still pays the instructor in full.

Tuition for student-cancelled lessons is never credited, refunded, owed to the student,
carried forward to future months, or applied to future lessons, regardless of reason or
    advance notice of the cancellation.

Student-cancelled lessons may be eligible for makeup as outlined below.

  • Lessons that you cancel with at least 4 hours advance notice are eligible for makeup.

  • Makeup lessons are not owed to the student.  We allocate available makeup lessons to student on a best-
effort basis, into timeslots cancelled by other students.  We aim to be equitable in the allocation of available
makeup lessons by not offering repeated makeup lessons to the same students until other students have had
the opportunity to make up lessons.  We in no way guarantee that any student-cancelled lesson will be made
    up in any timeframe.

  • Makeup lessons may be scheduled with any teacher, on any instrument, for anyone in your immediate family.

  • There is no time limit on when lessons may be made up.  However:

Makeup lessons are scheduled only into time slots cancelled by other students.  There is no guarantee as to when makeup lessons may be available.

Makeup lessons are scheduled only during months that you have paid for a full recurring lesson schedule. Makeup lessons can not be used during months when you are de-enrolled, or during months when you are booking only one-time lessons.

Makeup lessons have no financial value and may not be applied to tuition payments.

One-Time Lessons

  • One-Time lessons must be paid at the time the lesson is scheduled, and are not eligible for refund.

  • If a one-time lesson is cancelled prior to the lesson date, the money paid is held on account and may be used to schedule another one-time lesson.

  • If a one-time lesson is cancelled same day with at least 4 hours notice, the lesson made be made up, but only in timeslots that have been cancelled by other students.  Availability of makeup slots is not guaranteed.

  • A one-time lesson may be rescheduled only once.  If a rescheduled lesson is cancelled a 2nd time, it may not be rescheduled.
