Benefits of
teaching at the Music Training Center:

We take care of all scheduling,
customer billing,
and accounting, including booking students, receiving payments,
schedule changes, cancellations, and makeup lessons.

You can check your schedules and monthly pay
at any time on the internet.

You will be working in a clean, modern,
social environment. Our schools are located in major
shopping areas, and include hi-tech theater's for your student's

You will be teaching
in new, climate-controlled lesson studios,
equipped with the latest Dell PC's
and high-speed internet access.

You are paid for every timeslot
scheduled by your students, including cancelled lessons.

Base Salary
and Pay: You are compensated at a
base rate of $23 per hour, plus a 10% ($2.30/hour) monthly
retirement savings bonus. You may be eligible for other
benefits as described below. We guarantee a minimum
monthly salary per teaching day, year-round. In total, our
compensation and benefit package equates to more than $28/hour
in "self-employment/1099" pay.

You are paid as a W-2 Employee. We take
care of your tax withholdings.
Your FICA/medicate tax rate is 7.65% (vs. 15.3% for independent
contractors).

Retirement Bonus: We
add a 10% tax-deferred bonus to every paycheck, paid to your IRA at Fidelity
Investments (All employees over age 21 are eligible, starting in 7th month of employment).

Dental
Insurance: We provide
you with free Dental Insurance through (United Concordia DHMO
Plus), which has zero deductible for exams, fillings, and other
common dental services. (Starts in 4th month, must work 2
days or 12
hours per week.)

Health
and Prescription Insurance:
We offer the Blue Cross Keystone HMO Health Insurance,
Prescription, and Vision benefits coverage at a discounted cost
subsided by Music Training Center. Our Blue Cross plans have low deductibles and 100% hospitalization
coverage. In 2008, your net cost after taxes is around $175/month for
health, prescription, and vision benefits coverage (vs.
$300+/month typical cost for self-employed instructors). Eligibility is
in the 4th month of employment, for employees working at least 4
days or 25 hours per week.

Paid Vacation:
All private lesson instructors receive up to 6 days paid vacation
per year (at a rate of $100/day, one day per year for each
regular teaching day that you are scheduled for. If you
teach 4 days a week, you receive 4 paid vacation days per year).
Vacation days are paid during the winter break.
Piano
Instructors
You will be teaching on brand new Yamaha pianos that are always maintained
in perfect working order and tuned every 3 months. Your lesson
studio includes a new Dell PC with a high quality digital recording system
that allows you to record your students during a lesson.
The lesson studio
computers are also equipped with software that allows you to play
realistic jam tracks to assist with teaching students to solo or
improvise.
Guitar and Bass Instructors
Our lesson studios are stocked with brand
new acoustic, electric, and classical guitars (full-size, ¾-size,
left-handed, and right-handed guitars), and electric basses. You do not
need to bring your own guitar, unless you prefer to. Your studio includes
a brand new Dell PC, with a Line6 Guitar Port, along with software that
allows you to play realistic jam tracks to assist with teaching students
to solo or improvise.
You
will be teaching on brand new Yamaha pianos that are always maintained in
perfect working order and tuned every 3 months. Your lesson studio
includes a new Dell PC with a high quality digital recording system that
allows you to record your students during a lesson.
Drum Instructors
Our drum studios have 2 brand new, full-size drum kits - one for you, one
for the student. No need to constantly switch places with your student to
demonstrate playing technique. You can watch your student play, and your
student can watch you play, during the entire lesson. A stereo is
provided to allow you to listen to student’s CD’s during lessons. Drum
sticks are also provided.
MTC’s Children’s Musical Theater Company comprises up to 60 children at
each MTC location. You will be directing small groups of
elementary-school age children (up to 12 children per group). Rehearsals
are held after school several days per week, and performances are held at
the end of each season. You will be directing rehearsals and performances
on Music Training Center’s small, yet beautiful and professionally
designed stage, which includes a superb sound system and professional
stage lighting. MTC’s prior productions included Disney’s Aladdin Jr. and
Disney’s Jungle Book Kids.
Makin’ Music is the Philadelphia
Region’s foremost pre-K music program, with 25 locations including Music
Training Center’s Plymouth Square location, and the soon-to-open Ardmore
West location. Children ages 0-3 attend
Makin' Music classes each week, singing and
dancing and playing music along with their parents, and the talented
musicians who lead each class. To qualify as a Makin’ Music Instructor,
you must be a good acoustic guitarist (able to strum open and bar chords
fluently), a good singer, and have a engaging personality. Two musicians
lead each class. We provide all the training you will need to get
started.
Rock Band Instructors
(Rock 101 and Rock Band Camp)
Music Training Center's Rock 101 and Rock Band Camp
programs provides
musicians and singers ages 10-15 with the opportunity to
perform in a Rock
band all year long. Performances are held both at Music Training
Center's facilities, as well as public venues such as Grape Street
Philadelphia and World Cafe' Live.

101 performances. You will be rehearsing weekly with these young
musicians, mentoring them in live performance technique, and helping them
prepare for a final concert at the end of each season. Requirements
include solid guitar skills, singing ability, and strong knowledge of
classic and modern rock songs.
Front Desk Receptionists
Weekday and Weekend positions
may be available. You will be working in a dynamic, social
environment where you will interact constantly with dozens of musicians
and hundreds of customers per week. Good administrative and computer
skills are required, along with the ability to handle a wide range of
customer service situations. Complete training is provided.
PLEASE NOTE: You must reside within 15 minutes drive time of the MTC
location you are applying for, and you must have a car (public transit is
not an option for receptionist positions)
