Musical Theater Director Positions

Created especially for children in the elementary school age range, Music Training Center’s Musical Theatre classes provide a great educational, social, and confidence-building experience.  We limit our productions to 12 children, so that all children receive prominent lead or ensemble roles. Each child gets to act, sing, and dance through nearly all of the production.  Our stage has professional sound and lighting, giving the children a truly rewarding experience.

Details of the Musical Theater Director position are as follows:

Employment Details:

• Hours:  Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 3 PM - 7 PM

• This position is paid as W-2 employment

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing scripts and accompaniment music in advance of each season

• Evaluating children's abilities and casting for each play

• Directing up to 6 weekly rehearsals (one rehearsal per week for each cast of children).

• Directing two final performances per cast, during the final 2 weeks of each season (Fall/Winter/Spring)

• Contacting parents when follow-up is needed

• Directing Summer theater camps (held several weeks during the Summer).

Job requirements include:

• Ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and teach children ages 5-10

• Good singing voice (professional training not required)

• Experience and/or knowledge of choreography and dance

• Commitment to 100% reliable attendance.
